How Cell Phone Boosters Work

Posted by David Hughes on

  1. The antenna installed outdoors collects signal from the base station.
  2. The antenna then sends the collected signal to the mobile booster (repeater) indoors.
  3. The mobile booster amplifies the signal and broadcasts it to your devices via the whip aerial attached to the booster. ForDAS (Distribution Antenna System)which is designed for large commercial or large buildings, the mobile booster is able to broadcast the amplified signals to multiple whip aerials which are extended from the base unit to other areas of the building.

Note: It is important to get a coax cable of appropriate length. Shorter travel distance of signal means lesser signal loss. Areas with weak outdoor signal strength (1-3 bars) are recommended to have cables not longer than 50ft.
